Meeting with UNAIDS
In early March 2017, GHP Chairman Roland Göhde had meetings with UNAIDS and WHO in Geneva. Dr Luiz Loures, Deputy Executive Director, Programme, UNAIDS, Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations, and Roland Göhde discussed how to further develop the close and successful cooperation between UNAIDS and the GHP, which serves as an excellent example for triggering and evolving intersectoral and multi-sectoral partnerships. For several years now, UNAIDS and the GHP have been closely collaborating, e.g. by jointly organising panels and workshops at the World Health Summit and by contributing to the well-established German-African Healthcare Symposium.

Meeting with WHO
The focus of the meeting at WHO Headquarters was an information exchange on the “Global Coordination Mechanism on NCDs”. In this context, it was explained how participation at the “WHO Global Coordination Mechanism Working Groups” could be realised. The three working groups established under the WHO GCM/NCD aim to recommend ways and means of encouraging Member States and non-state actors to align international cooperation on Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) with national plans concerning NCDs, in order to strengthen aid effectiveness and the development impact of external resources in support of NCDs.
