Hosted by German Federal Chancellor Dr Angela Merkel, 120 experts from 25 countries representing various disciplines and sectors discussed challenges and possible approaches to improving global health by employing an intersectoral and interdisciplinary approach and by strengthening international cooperation.
The following four key areas have been selected as focus fields:
- Using the potential of information and communications technology
- Improving the use of antibiotics
- Fighting neglected tropical diseases (NTDs)
- Mental health – overcoming the taboo
Due to the activities of its “Information and Dialogue Platform Health Crises and Health System Strengthening”, the German Healthcare Partnership (GHP) was invited as an initiative of the German private healthcare sector and represented by its Chairman of the Board, Roland Göhde.
As a member of the expert jury, Roland Göhde had the privilege of officially announcing at the third International Forum the winning team of the “Hacking for global health – from local to global health” initiative set up by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
